• Built the initial demo product — a crypto exchange — together with the two founders in six weeks.
• Designed and built a low-latency crypto exchange in Rust: P90 tick-to-trade of 5 microseconds, processing over 1m orders per second.
• Grew the engineering team from just me to a peak of 16 engineers.
• Coached grads and juniors up to extremely capable lead engineers.

Thomson Reuters

• Managed and coached a cross-border engineering team across the UK and India.
• Technical architect/team lead for an HTML5 spreadsheet built with TypeScript/Angular and a C# backend, capable of handling sheets with 50,000 rows with real-time collaboration.
• Adapted a legacy C++ codebase of approximately 250,000 lines to support Unicode throughout instead of ASCII.
• Built a visual spreadsheet two-way diff tool in C# that accounted for formula changes caused by inserted or deleted rows, significantly reducing review noise; the content development team still uses it when reviewing changes.
• Advocated for and built the first automated build pipeline, reducing build effort from one developer day per week to a two-hour nightly process, then evolved it into a true CI pipeline running on every commit in 2–10 minutes.

Deloitte

• Became the main customer trainer for our software, teaching users how to complete corporate and group tax returns.
• Wrote a custom Excel spreadsheet tool for a client that generated £80k in revenue from just two weeks of work.
• Rewrote the Excel export (“Taxpack”) to improve performance by 8x.
• Architected a tool to recover VAT cashflow rebates from HMRC; implemented it for multiple clients, notably helping save one from bankruptcy during the 2008 downturn.

Triple Software

• Developed an ecommerce site builder linked to their existing stock control system.
• Built the first Windows version of their EPOS till software (Visual Basic 6).
